General Information 5km and 10km races

No entries on the day - please go to the online store to secure your place at the event.

Age limits on the day of the race are 5km 12+, 10km 16+ (Association of Running Clubs rule 80).

You must provide relevant medical information at registration. First Aiders will be on hand for medical emergencies.

The 5km and 10km races start together and split at around 3.5km. The split is clearly signed and marshalled. The colour of your race number indicates the race you are running, so the marshals know how to direct you.

There is no water station on the route. A plentiful supply of water is available at the finish.

Although the route is all on well worn trails, some sections are boggy and some sections are steep. There are low branches, tree roots, and the occasional rabbit hole or farmer so please take care while competing and we would suggest you wear trail shoes if you have them (although not essential).
It's a trail race, please run within your limits, a sprained ankle is no fun.

Post race - Refreshing water and fetching bling will be provided at the finish, then join us at Race HQ for free tea and cake!

1st, 2nd & 3rd hamper prizes for females and males in the 5km and 10km events.

Top-Dog Awards for the 1st canicross lady runner and 1st canicross gentleman runner.

By Entering the 10km Race you will automatically be entered into the Purbeck Trail Series - See the Trail Series page for details.

Some rules - there aren't many

  1. Write your medical info and emergency contact info on the back of your race number at registration.

  2. Run the race you have entered, but if you wish to switch events during the race tell the Race Director at the end and we can do magic stuff with the data.

  3. If you retire from the race, tell a marshal. We need to know you are not in a ditch somewhere.

  4. The figure of eight course means that you may need to give way to faster runners approaching from behind.

  5. Canicross dogs are allowed in the 5km and 10k event. They must wear a suitable harness, not a collar, and be attached to a waist belt on their human by a shock absorbent line - we will check, don't risk DQ embarrassment. Dogs must be over 12 months old. Humans agree that they are appropriately insured for third party injury by their pooch (pet or household insurance usually covers this).

  6. Have fun.
